Abstract
Objectives: This study aims to analyze the influence of self-rating creativity factors as well as past, present and future major competencies in dental hygiene students. The below shows the analysis results.

Methods: As a random sampling method, a questionnaire survey was conducted from November 18 to November 29, 2019 for students of dental hygiene at some universities in Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do, and a total of 266 copies of the collected questionnaires were analyzed.

Results: Out of all the self-rating creativity factors, the domain of knowledge showed the highest score, 3.49, and out of all the major competencies, future competency showed the highest score, 3.66. When analyzing correlations between general characteristics and major competencies, this study discovered that those who had religions showed statistically and significantly higher scores in present competency and overall major competency than those who had no religion. When analyzing high school curriculum selections, this study found out that those who majored in natural sciences or other academic fields showed statistically and significantly higher scores in future competency and overall major competency than those who majored in liberal arts. The highest pure correlation was seen in the domains of accuracy and flexibility(r=.814) and in present competency and future competency(r=.684) out of all the major competencies. Besides, it was found that as overall major competency became higher, the flexibility factor(r=.358) became higher as well among all the creativity factors. When examining factors that had influence on creativity, this study discovered past competency, future competency and overall major competency.

Conclusions: In conclusion, dental hygiene students, who develop themselves as health-specialized workers, should be provided with education programs that can enhance their major competencies for high-quality jobs. Especially when their creativity-based major competencies become enhanced, it is expected that they will have differentiated competitiveness in the near future.
